Wildcat Award and Wildcat Teams
Students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 have all joined a “Cat Team’. Cat teams have been established to help continue to build a community atmosphere at St. Matthew School.
There are four Cat teams: Pumas, Jaguars, Leopards and Cats.
Each student can earn valuable points for their Cat team by participating in the many activities offered at St. Matthew School. There are two special plaques placed on our Wall of Fame that list the Cat team winner and the Cat team ‘spirit’ winner for each year. The winning Cat team is announced at our year-end awards assembly.
St. Matthew Staff has initiated another special recognition program to reward students for their involvement in activities outside of the regular classroom.
We have called this the Wildcat Award.
Once each term, an awards assembly is held to recognize students who helped build school spirit and helped make St. Matthew School a special place to attend.
Each student from grade one to grade 8 has been given a Wildcat Award certificate with 15 blank circles that can be filled with award stickers. The Students receive a sticker for each activity they participate in at school. The students get to keep the certificate after receiving 15 stickers.
We also have a Wildcat Wall of Fame where all championship teams are recognized with a special plague. This wall is located on the wall outside of the gym. Stop by and check out all the great student accomplishments.
