Welcome back Wildcats! It is with much enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 2017/2018 school year. A warm welcome is extended to all who are new to our school community. A special greeting is also extended to our Junior Kindergarten children who are starting school for the first time. Together with staff, our parish team, and the parent community, we will strive to make this year one of excellence for our students in the areas of academic, spiritual and emotional growth. St. Matthew’s staff is a uniquely gifted one that effectively collaborates to ensure that Christ is present for our children and a love of learning is modelled & encouraged. I invite our parent community to participate in our students’ education through a visible presence through school council, volunteering and other school activities. It is important to remember that a teacher is only one part of the learning process; parents are extremely important in determining how well a child will perform and how much a child will learn during the school year. Your involvement in your child’s learning is vital. I feel very blessed to be part of such a wonderful school, church, and neighbourhood community.
We are very fortunate to have such a strong volunteer presence here at St. Matthew School. Parents and guardians, friends and community helpers all play an important role in helping our community. Support from home, involvement and participation at school, and contributing to the school community, are all aspects of the partnerships that keep us true to our board’s vision of St. Matthew being “the heart of the community, where every child can achieve success and where there is a place for all”
Communication is essential in the teaching/learning process. Please communicate regularly with your child(s) teacher and the school. I look forward to working together to ensure an excellent school year for our students filled with academic excellence and spiritual growth. St. Matthew has all the essentials in place. Let us be proud of our past, satisfied with our present, and confident in its future.
Matthew 19:26: “With God, all things are possible”
May God Bless You,
